School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home and school for all students. School psychologists provide counseling, social skills instruction, and mentoring for students struggling with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. They assist with problem solving to increase student achievement by addressing barriers to learning and determining appropriate strategies to improve learning. School psychologists promote student wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination, and optimism.
